Your attitude has a big influence over how you look, act and sound. Even the words that you use are influenced by your attitude at that moment.
Did you know that when someone meets you for the first time their first impression of you is made up of:
- 55% what you look like
- 38 % how you sound
- and only 7% what you say.
Tips
Here are some questions to ask yourself to ensure that your attitude will help you make a great first impression:
- Do I have a happy and optimistic outlook?
- Do I smile at people and acknowledge them?
- Am I pleasant and respectful to fellow team members and clients?
- Do I have a good opinion about myself?
- Do I really listen and take on board what other people say?
A good attitude will allow you to feel energized, optimistic, grateful and happy. Poor attitude can weigh you down, and have you seen as negative, disgruntled and unpleasant to do business with.
This Week’s Task
Think about how you view your successes and failures. Try to find the positive in everything and everyone you come in contact with. Think about what you don’t like in other people and then assess, being honest, whether you have those traits yourself.
Question
Have you ever noticed something about another person you found most irritating and aggravating? What was it and is that because you have the same trait? You can leave your comments here.
Yvonne Parkel Bob Clark says
Julie, I recently attended a “beauty event” which was attended by individuals in the “beauty business”. I have never seen so many obese young women in my life. Not only obese but also poorly dressed. Spandex and too tight t-shirts do not constitute “dressed” for an event – especailly a “beauty event” and more especially by obese individuals. Please, continue your mission to raise awareness of “proper dress” for beauty professionals. They really need your help!!!!!
