Positioning Your Brand

6 March, 2014

If you’ve been to America you are probably familiar with the stores Walmart and Saks, am I right? If you haven’t been to America, in Australia it’s like comparing David Jones with Kmart.

WalmartWhat words come to mind when you think of Walmart.

Probably stuff like cheap prices “for everyone”, massive stores with about seven billion things in them and a clientele of, well, every demographic, shape, size and character. If you haven’t seen the site called People of Walmart, see the photo on the right!

Now lets talk about Saks.

Words that come to mind are luxury, top end designers, great service, discerning shoppers, expensive and quality.

Pretty much every salon in every niche falls into one of these two categories. There is the “Saks” of your industry and there is the “Walmart” of your industry.

Sure you can be either, but let’s just be honest…

You want to be the Saks. Don’t you?

Meaning… if you are the Saks you…

  • Charge PREMIUM prices
  • Have premium, discerning customers
  • When people think of you they think THE BEST.

But here is a secret…

You get to choose which one you are. Yes, you! Nobody else.

It is all about your positioning and branding.

You don’t start off as Saks or Walmart, it’s something you create.

I want to help you to be the Saks of your industry.

Let’s stop for a moment and consider who the Saks salons are and who the Walmart salons are. I bet you will find…

  1. Saks style salons have an EXCELLENT, inspiring presentation and image.
  2. Saks style salons have FEWER, but HIGH QUALITY products and services.
  3. Saks style salons care about their customers and offer excellent customer service.
  4. Saks style salons don’t try to appeal to everyone, they only try to appear to THEIR clients.
  5. Saks style salons charge more and make more.

So do you want to be a Saks style salon? Or are you a Walmart?

Are you trying to offer the world to everyone and getting nowhere?

You know, it doesn’t have to be that hard.
