1. What’s different about this program to other coaching programs out there?
Great question, and one I am pleased to answer. There are many salon coaches out there who have been in the industry for a long time with much success. My training comes in from a totally different angle, one that isn’t addressed in the detail that I provide, because simply, there is no other salon coach who has the background I have and credentials in business management, image, and consultative sales training and who is also a Certified Trainer. My program is centred around image, and the interpersonal skills you need to stand out from the crowd. Achieving a professional presence, poise, and posture communicates confidence, credibility, attractiveness and like-ability. Being able to relate to clients opens up the door to building relationships that are lasting. That’s the difference. In addition, I can also mentor you in other business skills as well, such as building alliances, retail and consultative sales techniques, marketing online and offline, video marketing, uniform and colour selection, recruitment, and customer service.
2. Why are soft skills so important anyway?
It’s a fact that soft skills are becoming the #1 prerequisite for many businesses. You only have to study companies like Starbucks, Virgin, Apple, and Zappos to see that their whole focus is on the customer experience, and who provides that experience? You do.
Soft skills are being referred to as the X Factor, a combination of charisma, optimism, confidence and emotional intelligence that makes you stand out from the crowd and attracts people/clients to you.
Out of all the skills a leader needs, influencing skills are #1 and can be learnt and developed. Your clients are your stakeholders and are always looking for the X Factor salon that will give them a great experience and results.
3. Why should I invest in this?
I can guarantee that in all of the training you have ever done you will never have undergone this type of training. If you have invested in coaching before, you may have spent a lot of time on systems, reporting, incentive schemes for staff, loyalty and other marketing programs for your business, but you will not have had the schooling in image management, and interpersonal skills. These are the skills that will take your business to the next level and are recognised globally as the prerequisite for anyone wanting to reach or apply for senior positions or positions of authority and recognition.
True business leaders will want the skills to be able to hire, train, and bring about a culture that not only connects with your clients, but maintains a level of excellence that ensures their loyalty. Talent is one thing, interpersonal skills are the driver to make it all happen.
If you are a salon owner wanting to enjoy a share of the billions of dollars the beauty and wellness industry is generating now and into the future, then these skills cannot be overlooked.
4. How does it work?
There are 4 modules to the Competitive Advantage Program. For Salon Owners, there is an additional module on Leadership that helps you implement everything from previous modules into your salon and with your staff members. On signing up, you are given a unique membership log in that gives you access to the program and will allow you to use nominated external sites as required, such as your Personality Insight testing, Your Special Gift testing and your Personal Style Blueprint.
Each module takes you through a sequence of key learnings, from theory and exercises that are set out online, and in a workbook that is downloadable for each module.
Assessment tasks are included at the end of each module and are to be completed before the next module is released. At the end of each module a live Q&A webinar will be conducted whereby salon owners can compare notes and findings and talk about how they see the key learnings working for them. I will be on the webinar as well, facilitating the call and offering advice and coaching. It’s a great way to learn from other salon owners how they are working with the key elements. A special facebook group is also available for continued discussion and sharing of notes and question asking.
As part of the program, you also receive a copy of my book ‘Invaluable: What every salon owner wanting success needs to know’ and your own salon marketing plan and calendar so that you can plan out how this training can fit into your overall marketing strategy.
5. Is it necessary to have my staff do this too?
Yes absolutely! Your team are the driving force behind your success, and if you don’t skill them in the essential areas to be able to create great impressions, build trust and rapport, communicate for impact and then grow your business through their confidence, poise and presence, then you will always stay where you are. Each membership has exclusive access to the tools to uncover your own personality type, special gifts and style assessment, and these tools help you uncover what the strengths and weaknesses are for each and every staff member. Its highly valuable information that you would never know and can help you position your team for high performance and profit.
Salon Owners who have put their staff through this program have really noticed a marked improvement in confidence, presentation, grooming, and communication skills that have resulted in increased business! It also helps the staff understand each other better and so encourages a positive team environment and salon culture.
6. What if I train my staff and they leave?
Unfortunately, this is always a real consideration. However, if you do not train your team then your results will always be the same. Training your team demonstrates your commitment to them and your professionalism as a salon owner and leader. It is my belief that staff will opt to leave if they are dissatisfied, unfulfilled and unrecognised. Offering them solid training that they can benefit from personally and professionally will help encourage loyalty and commitment. The other element of this, is that training your staff does not go unnoticed and will attract other potential, high quality staff who want to excel because of that.
7. What do we receive for doing the course?
A Certificate of Salon Image Management is what you and every staff member who completed the course receives.
8. What if I am already working with another coach?
That’s fine. I suggest you complete working with that person and complete their program first. In saying that, I have had therapists approach me to start my program as they see it being more aligned with how they want to be trained, and it actually helps other programs they are working with to be more successful because of what they learn and the confidence it gives them.
9. Can I spread the payments out?
Of course. Not that I think this is expensive, but if cash flow is a problem and I know only too well how that can come about in a salon, then payment terms are possible. All you have to do is send me an email and I will arrange that for you.
10. What if it doesn’t work?
All good plans can be laid to rest if they are not actioned. One thing I have learned by talking to salon owners, and by my own experience, is that you can watch as many free webinars as you can, and invest in coaching, but if you don’t take action or try to implement any of the tools or strategies, that you are given, then you are never likely to see results. I have carefully mapped out an implementation and action plan in the last module to help salon owners conduct their own salon audit and set the standards they want with their team and the salon environment and presentation and be able to monitor that.
11. What if I can’t make the Q&A?
That would be a shame as this is part of you being accountable to yourself and your investment, however, if for some reason you cannot be there, it will be recorded and available in your members area of the website to view later.
12.What if I need help? I am not very technical.
Any problems will be handled by our local website programmer as soon as we become aware of them. If there is an issue, simply send us an email and we will be back to you a.s.a.p.
If necessary, I can walk you through any problems over the phone or via email.
You will never be left unattended, I promise!
