I’m sure you have all heard the expression “you only get one chance to make a great first impression!”
Did you know that 55% of how people perceive you for the first time is based on what they see? It’s a fact, you do it everyday, even when you walk down the street, go to the supermarket, greet your new client.
First impressions are very powerful. You make your mind up in seconds as to what the other person is like, what their nationality is, their culture, religion, income, attitude, style, career, and so it goes. You do that based on what you know is true, from all of the information you have been fed through your upbringing, the media, and your own experiences.
That’s why it is so important to be consistent with what follows… your verbal and non verbal communication. If there are inconsistencies then people will start to question whether you are authentic, credible, and can be trusted.
For example, imagine you were going to see your dentist, and for some reason another dentist had been allocated to you. On entering the room, this dentist was unshaven, disheveled, his uniform was un-ironed and not clean. What would you think? Would you trust him? Would you want to stay in the chair?
The same goes for you in the beauty industry.
Your appearance is so important. How you wear your uniform, your hair, your makeup, your attention to detail, determines how professional, authentic, credible and ready to do business you are.
Tiny turnoffs are the things that seriously affect first impressions and can promote lasting impressions of the not so good kind if you don’t get this right.
Women come to you because they want to feel good about themselves, and they need to feel confident about being with you, it’s so simple, and so important that you deliver a great experience through your personal presentation.
This module is about the physical you, your shape, style, personality style, colours, and how to use all of that to your advantage, at work and at play.
Enjoy, and I’ll see you on Module 4.
