What would it take to double your business this year?
Double my business? That would be amazing wouldn’t it? So as the second question in the set of 4 I asked you recently, let’s focus on the intention.
What would it take to double your business this year?
Firstly, you need to check in with where you are at from this time last year. Are you ahead? Or are you behind?
What might be the contributing factors you can identify that have produced the results to date for your business?
Salon owners always want to blame something or someone, so don’t think you are an exception here if you are heading down that line of thought.
There will always be staff issues, economic influences, clients leaving or not returning, promotions that are flops, and rising expenses that really eat into your bottom line.
So what can you be doing or thinking about to double your business this year?
Here are several tips to have you thinking and hopefully strategising. Of course, if you want to really get into some detail and nitty gritty then don’t hold off registering for one of my free 30 minute discovery sessions where we discuss your business, in confidence and how this all applies to you.
- Invest time and energy into your team. Do they know how to sell? How to build rapport and create great first and lasting impressions on your clients, new and existing? This is a key factor in retaining your clients base and building sales, in both service and retail.
- Analyse your existing data base. How many of them can you introduce to a service they don’t already use? Do you let them know everything you have on offer? I am surprised at how many salon staff only ever see a client for one thing, and that client is never introduced to something else, even offered a complimentary treatment to try it out? That’s business just sitting there.
- Study your clients retail programs, are there gaps in there that need filling?
- Talk to everyone about your business. How many times do you go to the bank, or buy coffee, or lunch? Do you carry business cards on you, or a price list?
- Promote your business. Build alliances with other businesses who you feel have clients you want as well, and offer a kick back for referrals.
- Employ a loyalty system, where every client can be rewarded for attending your salon.
- Identify profit leaks, maybe your stock ordering system needs tightening up, or re-evaluating so that you are not ordering stock that sits on your shelf accumulating dust.
- Work out what your weaknesses and fears are, so that you can move forward confidently. If you know you aren’t good at something then get some help. That might just be where you are leaving good hard earned money on the table!
There are loads more ideas and actionable tasks you can be doing to double your business this year, if you are willing to just try!
It takes action to make change and if you stay doing what you always have done, nothing changes, and your results pay the price.
